About The Brazilian Butt Lift
A surgery known as the Brazilian butt lift is one of the fastest growing surgical procedures in the U.S. and continues to be in widespread demand among both women and men. This body contouring surgery allows individuals an effective way to obtain a fuller, shapelier buttocks without having to use an implant. Weight loss, aging, as well as hereditary characteristics, can cause a deflated butt. In today's times, a curvy, rounder rear end is considered desirable. A fat transfer to the buttocks adds volume to the butt to create a rounder look. It is achieved through a careful and precise fat transfer process, which first uses liposuction to take unwanted fat from one section of your body and then reinstates it into your buttocks. It takes an artistic eye to perfect the Brazilian butt lift and with years of experience and training, Hinsdale, IL aesthetic plastic surgeon Dr. George Kouris can create stunning, natural-looking results at Kouris M.D. Cosmetic Plastic Surgery.
The ideal patients for the Brazilian butt lift will be examined to make sure they are able to undergo this surgery. First is to measure and make sure there is enough fat in certain areas to extract for the removal, grafting, and transfer process. If you are of lower body weight or have insufficient fat to harvest, you may not be a candidate for this procedure. In addition, it is also important to have good skin laxity. If your lower body has loose and sagging skin, you may be a better fit for a surgical butt lift. If you maintain a stable weight, have enough fat to remove, and prefer not to use an artificial device, such as an implant, the Brazilian butt lift can be a great option for you.
"I will start by mentioning that Dr. Kouris is an excellent doctor all-around. He is compassionate, very knowledgeable, extremely polite, and has a wonderful team - Sheila and Suzy are the best!I have known Dr. Kouris since 2017. I had 3 procedures - Breast reduction, Tummy Tuck and brow lift. I am 54 years old looking like i am in my 40s. I love all 3 of my procedures but my brow lift is incredibly natural. No one realizes what I had done. I am receiving compliments about how young I look. Ultimately, I believe the doctor that makes you look younger and feel extremely confident in your own skin has a magic touch! I highly recommend him to anyone who is in the search of doing any plastic surgery. Give Dr. Kouris a shot, you will not be disappointed."- M.K. / Google / Dec 27, 2019

"UPDATE: The clinic called me back and asked if I could come in for complementary Botox to make up for the previous problems. The appointment went well. I met with Dr. Kouris and let him know that he didn't have to completely comp the Botox but he insisted and profusely apologized. He is a nice man and he truly care about his patients and their time. Kudos to him for making things right:) I’ll start with saying that I hardly ever write a poor review. However, I am very disappointed with this clinic. I made an appointment over a month ago for the 12th of December and let the receptionist know that I would be coming in during my lunch break. She assured me that they would be able to see me in a timely manner. I was supposed to be receiving a consult for skincare as well as Botox. Eight days before my appointment, I was contacted by Dr. Kouris’ receptionist reminding me of my appointment on the 5th. I let her know that she was mistaken that my appointment was made for the 12th as my husband was out of town during the 5th and I would not have made an appointment for that day. She apologized and updated her schedule for the 12th. On the 9th I was once again contacted by the receptionist letting me know that the individual who would be assisting with the skincare consult would be out of the country on the 12th and would not be able to see me during my appointment and let me know that I would need to make another appointment to see her. I was a bit bothered by this given this was the second “mishap” with scheduling but she let me know that she would have the person give me a call the following day so I could at least speak with her. I thought it was a nice gesture, so I agreed. I was able speak with the individual but as expected, she ultimately said she would need to see me to make any definite suggestions. Well, today I showed up for my appointment at 12:00 and was given paperwork to complete. I let the receptionist know, once again, that I was on my lunch break and needed to be sure they were aware that I didn’t have much time. She let me know that she would remind the clinic team and not to worry, they would get me back in time. Well, 45 minutes later, I was still waiting to see someone from the clinic staff. I had to leave before seeing anyone. The receptionist said “Sorry, we had another patient JUST stall everything”. I told her that I was more bothered by the fact that nothing had been communicated to me than the fact that they were running behind. I was also bothered by the receptionist lack of concern that I had to leave before being seen. I would expect more than a simple “sorry”. The explanation was only given after I prompted for more information. A clinic that allows the receptionist to be the face of the organization should strive for a more sympathetic, organized, communicative, individual."- E.Z. / Google / Dec 20, 2019
"I recently had some elective surgery with Dr Kouris. He listened very carefully to my hopes and concerns, and we came up with a plan. I could not be more pleased with the results. I felt like I was in very capable hands with Dr Kouris, his nurse Sheila, and the whole office staff from start to finish. I will definitely recommend Dr Kouris to anyone searching for a qualified plastic surgeon."- M.S. / Google / Dec 20, 2019

In most cases, anesthesia is used for this surgery. It is considered an outpatient treatment and in most cases takes about 2 – 3 hours (it depends on how much fat is being removed and transferred). A form of liposuction will be the first step to remove fat from predetermined areas on the body, including the lower back, upper thighs, stomach, and flanks. This treatment of fat extraction is performed safely. The extracted fat is never exposed to open air since it is intricately purified in a closed system. At this time, the highest quality fat tissue is separated and placed into syringes. Next is the injection process, where the harvested fat tissue is injected in layers followed by a delicate massage to make sure the surface is even. This process is repeated numerous times until the desired result has been attained.
What to Expect
After a Brazilian butt lift, you will be sent home to heal. Remember, there are separate sections on the body that need proper healing — where the fat was removed and the buttocks. In both places, there will be bruising, incision care, and some discomfort. It is important to not place painful weight on the backside for at least two weeks after surgery. Once the swelling has subsided, results can be seen, but in most cases, the full outcome is seen in around 4 – 6 weeks. Your backside will appear fuller and shapelier. In addition, the areas that had fat removal may make your result more beautiful if it was performed on the hips or lower back.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a Brazilian butt lift cost?
Your total cost for a Brazilian butt lift (BBL) includes the costs for both fat transfer and liposuction, anesthesia, facility fees, plus care before and after your surgery. As soon as Dr. Kouris has developed your BBL treatment plan, he will be better able to give you cost estimates. It's best to focus on choosing a doctor you feel comfortable with, like Dr. Kouris, so we will help make your BBL affordable. Kouris M.D. Cosmetic Plastic Surgery accepts several payment methods and can give you information on low-interest medical financing.
Should I get implants or a fat transfer?
If you want to add volume to your buttocks, you could undergo butt augmentation using either silicone implants or fat grafting, which is commonly called a Brazilian butt lift. At your initial consultation, Dr. Kouris will talk to you about both methods and help you choose which is better based on your physique and wants. He will also assess your body to decide which areas he will harvest fat from (usually the thighs, back, or stomach). You may not be a candidate for a BBL if your body fat percentage is too low.
How long will my results last?
Although a small amount of fat might be reabsorbed by your body after your transfer, the majority of the fat cells will stay in their new location for many years. To keep your results, you need to maintain a steady weight because major weight loss or gain can compromise the results of the surgery. That's why Dr. Kouris recommends you be at a healthy weight prior to your BBL so it's easier for you to stay at.
How can I recover faster after a BBL?
To help speed your recovery following a BBL, Dr. Kouris or someone on his team will go over post-surgical instructions. You should avoid sitting on your buttocks for at least 14 days as the area heals. Dr. Kouris suggests you get a donut-shaped pillow or a Boppy nursing pillow, which lets you sit down with pressure placed on your legs rather than your buttocks. Light stretching and short walks will help to improve your blood flow and reduce swelling. Dr. Kouris might also suggest a special post-surgical massage to speed your healing.
Will a Brazilian butt lift remove loose skin?
While it's called a Brazilian butt lift, this name is a little confusing since it is not really a butt lift, which addresses loose and sagging skin from the buttocks. Although, the extra volume transferred to your buttocks during a Brazilian butt lift can fill out some of the loose skin. If you have moderate or severe sagging skin in your butt, you might combine a gluteoplasty with a BBL. Dr. Kouris will discuss your options, depending on your goals in your initial consultation.
